Call for Pre- and Post-ISVEE 14 Yucatan 2015 Workshops

ISVEE 14 will offer a limited number of high quality pre- and post-workshops to ISVEE delegates. Pre- and post-ISVEE workshops will take place in the city of Mérida, Yucatán, MEXICO during 1-2 and 8-13 November 2015. The main location will be at Hotel Fiesta Americana in Mérida (http://www.fiestamericana.com/en/merida/hotel-merida), which offers 7 (seven) rooms with different capacities (16, 24, 40, and 60 participants).

Call for Workshops

The organizing committee of ISVEE 14 now welcomes applications to organize pre- and post-ISVEE Workshops on any topic within the field of Veterinary Epidemiology and Economics. Duration of proposed workshops can be from 1 to 2 days (pre) or 1 to 6 days (post). For a successful application, please follow the guidelines presented below.

Important dates

  • 10 May 2014: Call for workshops
  • 30 January 2015: Deadline for workshop proposal submission
  • 13 February 2015: Decision on acceptance or rejection of workshop proposal, and notification of applicants
  • 27 February 2015: Announcement of pre- & post-ISVEE workshops on ISVEE14 website
  • 31 July 2015: New (extended) deadline for participant registration for pre- & post-ISVEE workshops
  • 6 August 2015: Last day for workshop organizers to confirm/cancel pre & post-workshops.

Registration will remain open for confirmed workshops until the maximum number of participants is reached.

  • 1-2 November 2015: Pre-ISVEE workshops
  • 8-13 November 2015: Post-ISVEE workshops

Workshop Proposal Guidelines

Proposals must not exceed 5 (five) pages in length and should contain the following information:

General information

  • Title of the workshop
  • Name of instructor(s) and short biographies and contact information of the workshop organizer(s)
  • Workshop’s learning outcomes
  • Background and skills workshop attendees should have (max 150 words).
  • The history of the workshop

The schedule

Each one-day session should start at 9.00am and conclude at 5.00pm. For a better catering service, morning coffee break should be from 10.30am to 11.00am. Afternoon coffee break should be from 3.00pm to 3.30pm. Lunch should be from 12.00pm to 1.00pm.

Evaluation criteria

Workshop proposals will be reviewed by 2-3 experienced ISVEE Delegates and acceptance will be based on:

  • The quality of the workshop proposal.
  • The quality of the workshop (based on the workshop contents).
    • The potential for attracting a sufficient number of participants.
  • The applicants’ demonstrated ability to lead a successful workshop.
  • Uniqueness – If two or more workshop proposals cover the same topic only 1 (one) will be accepted based on the above criteria.

Registration and fees

  • Participants must register on-line www.isvee2015.org using a registration link that will be active on 27 February 2015.
  • The total cost of registration should include an ISVEE administrative fee of 43 USD per participant. This administrative fee applies only to participants who are not planning to register for the ISVEE Symposium.
  • Participants who register for the ISVEE Symposium do not need to pay this administrative fee (it is included in the registration).

Workshop room charges

  • Plan A: 29 USD per participant per day (includes coffee breaks am, pm).
  • Plan B: 58 USD per participant per day (includes coffee breaks and lunch).
  • Each workshop organizer can rent a package of accessories that includes one laptop projector, power strips, extension cords, and adapters for a total of 100 USD per day.
  • Arrangements for use of computers, laptops, printers must be made in advance at an additional cost.
  • Minimum enrollment
    • 16, 20, or 30 participants per room per day (see Table above).
  • Maximum enrollment
    • 16, 24, 40, and 60 participants per room per day (see Table above).

Cancellations

  • Participants who are registered in cancelled workshops will have the option to transfer to another workshop.
  • Participants who paid registration to attend the ISVEE Symposium and decline to transfer to another workshop will be fully reimbursed the amount paid to register in the workshop (minus bank fees that apply).
  • Participants who are not attending the ISVEE Symposium and decline to transfer to another workshop will be fully reimbursed the amount paid to register in the workshop (minus an administrative fee of 43 USD and bank fees that apply).
  • Last day to cancel a registration and be fully reimbursed (minus the administrative fee of 43 USD and/or bank fees that apply) is 31 August 2015. Participants who cancel during 1- 30 September 2015 will be reimbursed 50% of the registration fee (minus the administrative fee of 43 USD and/or bank fees that apply). Participants who cancel after 30 September 2015 will not be reimbursed.
