Pre-symposium workshops and dates

Two pre-symposium workshops (No. 1 and No. 9 below) have been confirmed. Participants who are registered in cancelled workshops can transfer to another pre- or post-symposium workshop that is confirmed. Participants who paid registration to attend the ISVEE Symposium and decline to transfer to another workshop will be fully reimbursed the amount paid to register in the workshop (minus an administrative fee of 43 USD that applies for the symposium). Registration will remain open for confirmed workshops.

1 Mathematical and Epidemiological Modeling of Infectious Diseases: a hands-on workshop

Learning Outcomes: This workshop is aimed at epidemiologists including graduate students with an interest in combining analysis of field observations with mathematical modeling. The workshop uses methods and examples that are based on data from field studies and are all based on published materials. The objective of the workshop is to show the participants the connection between observations from the field and mathematical models. The workshop will integrate observational data and mathematical modeling to obtain a better understanding of the transmission dynamics of endemic infectious diseases. Throughout the workshop, lectures and practicals will be used to communicate the key concepts. All practicals are available in Modelmaker. Free versions of this software will be made available to all participants.

Instructors: Yrjö Gröhn and Cristina Lanzas.

When: 1-2 November 2015 (two days).

Cost per participant: 350 USD.
